Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator Company: Town of Bedford Location: Bedford, MA Description: The Town of Bedford (pop. 13,503) is searching for a full-time (40 hrs/week) Heavy Equipment Operator for its busy Public Works Department. Duties include performing various public works jobs and the operation of equipment of substantial complexity. The position requires a frequent and high level of physical effort under various weather conditions. Proven ability to operate construction equipment such as backhoes, heavy plowing equipment, and grounds maintenance equipment is required. Qualifications include a High School diploma, a valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driving License and a 2A/1C Hydraulic Hoisting License, and a clean driving history, as evidenced by a Registry of Motor Vehicles report. Experience in lawn care including athletic field maintenance is required and a Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator’s License is highly desirable. Candidates must also submit to drug testing as a condition of employment. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 40 hours, in addition to mandated overtime during snow storms, emergencies or special work details such as weekend interments.
