Position Summary Operate mechanical boom and cable or tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions within the yard or work sites. Duties amp Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operate crane to lift, move, and position machinery, equipment, products, or other large objects. Manipulate crane controls including pedals, levers, and buttons to regulate speed and direct crane to appropriate destination. Maintain, clean, and inspect the crane checking for defective parts and notify supervisor of any malfunctions. Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload. Use proper hoisting attachments and observe the load before movement occurs to ensure that it is secure. Possess an ability to follow written, oral, or signaled instructions. Assist in the maintenance and routine housekeeping of the yard to insure a safe working environment. Fill out EMO#039s for incoming and outgoing equipment. Reasoning Ability Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, to be able to read drawings, sketches and diagrams. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Other Requirements Must have knowledge of the design and use of tools and equipment in order to perform minor maintenance and repairs. Must be able to work with others in a team environment. Must also be able to operate and have proper certification for a forklift. Must have rigging and crane certifications.
