This position is for a Boiler Service Technician NOT a Boiler Operator!!!!

Job Description:

This position is responsible for the field tasking procedures needed to execute planned service inspections, repair services, equipment installations, and to provide emergency service response to the customer.

Essential Technical Skills:

• Must have a working knowledge of boiler and burner equipment maintenance tasking, troubleshooting and installation requirements.
• Must be Able to read and interpret blue prints, equipment specifications, mechanical and electrical codes and regulations.
• Should have a working knowledge of AC/DC electrical and HVAC equipment components.
• Should be able to troubleshoot, install and operate copper fin, water tube, and scotch marine boilers.
• Responsible for adhering to Company and Customer Safety policies and practices.
• Communicate with the Service Manager to receive and expedite the orders.
• Need excellent communication skills for customer service and problem resolution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance, repair and alteration of HVAC systems; and to perform semi-skilled and skilled general maintenance work as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Install adjust repair and inspect a variety of electrical, electronic and pneumatic climate controls and valves involved in heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment including forces air furnaces, boilers, water pumps, chillers, air conditioning units, exhaust fans, air filters, compressors, cooling towers and heat exchangers.

• Maintain and repair HVAC equipment by performing a variety of skilled electrical, heating, air conditioning and mechanical repair work.

• Inspect HVAC systems to identify maintenance needs.

• Repair or replace relays, heavy duty fuses, interlocking and magnetic control circuits, alarm systems, photo and electric eyes and time clocks; measure, cut thread and install electric conduits.

• Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, sanders, drills, welders, plumbing snakes, rodders, grinders, electric generators, and gas, diesel and natural gas engines.

• Monitor and test chemical conditions in open and closed water loops; control improper levels by adjusting controllers and adding treatment chemicals.

• Program and operate direct digital controllers including designing control, scheduling and energy management strategies.

• Draw, read and interpret sketches, diagrams, drawings and blueprints.

• Monitor and maintain preventive maintenance records and logs.

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience - Five years of increasingly responsible experience in HVAC repair and maintenance at the journeyman level.

• Training - Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by completion of a building trade apprenticeship program in electrical, maintenance, refrigeration, heating, cooling or a related field.

• License or Certificates - Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license is required. Universal Refrigerant Certificate is required.

DAYS/HOURS: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
