Pipe Welder- AlaskaThe challenge? Helping ensure the supply of our world’s oil and gas. At CH2M HILL, we deliver solutions that span the entire breadth of the oil industry. Our Pipe Welder jobs may provide you with the opportunity to work and live on the North Slope of Alaska on a rotational basis. Each day you will be responsible for performing welding of pipe, flanges and various fittings for fabrication or repair of machine parts, plant equipment and structures according to layout, blueprints or work orders using various welding processes. You should be a self motivated individual with five years experience as a pipe welder and petrochemical, oilfield, or arctic experience.Our Pipe Welders:• Constructs, maintains and modifies piping systems and process equipment related to petrochemical or other industry by welding of pipe, flanges and various fittings using applicable welding techniques and processes required to produces welds that meet applicable codes and client requirements.• Measures pipe routing and draft pipe configuration.• Perform repair, prep, grinding and re-weld procedures on pipe to meet proper welding codes.• Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Additional Pipewelder's Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Knowledge of the AWS, ANSI and ASME codes.• Knowledge of operation of welding equipment, beveling machines, electrodes, fluxes, shielding gasses and welding processes.• Knowledge of the various size and grades of welding electrodes, the proper use of electrodes and welding processes, the appearance of a proper fit-up and the appearance of properly cleaned and prepared surface.• Ability to properly use and care for the tools and equipment and welding electrodes commonly used on an industrial project. • Ability to read, understand engineering prints.Physical Demand/Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, climb, lift, balance, stoop, and handle materials. The employee must regularly lift and move up to forty (40) pounds and occasionally lifts and moves up to fifty (50) pounds. Often required to perform heavy work outside in multi-weather conditions. Work is performed from ladders and scaffolds. Audible safety alarms and warnings in work area. The majority of work is performed in an Industrial setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.Basic Qualifications• Five (5) years experience in pipe welding and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Must pass pipe weld tests upon offer.
