The position requires four (4) years of experience as an electrician maintaining, repairing and overhauling electrically propelled rail transit vehicles. Individuals must have refrigeration servicing experience. Experience in an industrial maintenance environment will be accepted as a substitute for rail transit experience. The individual must be able to successfully pass an open book examination, which tests comprehension of the theory of operation and maintenance of air conditioning equipment that is installed in PATCO transit vehicles. This position requires knowledge of the correct and safe use of the full complement of industrial hand and power tools, measuring devices, gauges, test instruments and material handling equipment needed for maintenance work. Material handling equipment can include bridge cranes and fork lift trucks. Use of power cleaning, abrasive cleaning and painting equipment is required. Use of heating equipment may be required to assemble and disassemble components. When required, individuals will be trained before using specialized equipment. The position requires the use of electrical diagnostic instruments and refrigerant handling, reclamation and diagnostic equipment.This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to all provisions of PATCO's Substance Abuse Testing and Control Policy including random drug and alcohol testing. Individuals in this position must be able to work any shift in a 24-hour period, including holidays and weekends.
